Sotherby's Fossil exhibition

Wondering past Sotherby's on Rue du Faubourg St Saturday afternoon I spotted an exhibition of particular interest to me as I have been currently been set the theme Animal, Végétal, mineral. Sotherby's had opened its doors to the public to display an extraordinary collection of fossils, ancient bones and minerals which would be up for auction. These natural artifacts possessed a silent beauty which echoed their history. Some were simple, skeletal marks of extinct plants and animals and their delicate traces, captured forever within dense rock was a really poignant, thought provoking site. Others were vividly coloured and extremely striking and I was truly in awe of how something so ancient could retain such intense and radiant colouration.
