Musée de L'Orangerie

I feel that this museum is somewhat a hidden gem. Without the famous connotations of the Louvre or the D'Orsay and tucked away at one end of the Jardins Des Tulieries it is slightly more calm than the other manic museums!

It houses many impressionist paintings but the main draw are the two circular rooms of enormous Monet Water Lily panels. I was totally awe struck. Entering the rooms is like descending into a peaceful haven of natural beauty and tranquility. It is rare that paintings have such a strong emotional impact upon me. The range of colours within the paintings is remarkable and the fluidity of the brush strokes add to their relaxed ambience.
