Merci

Not far from University is an incredible find on Boulevard Beaumarchais. Merci is a large contemporary space elegantly arranged over two floors. It houses a trendy eating canteen but also an amazing boutique stocking all sorts of different products from home furnishings and designer clothing through to everyday nicknacks.

The concept of Bernard and Marie-France Cohen, creators of the luxury children'e clothing brand Bonpoint, Merci has one highly important aim, to give back to the world. All profits are donated to a children's charity in Madagascar. So one can feel less guilty in buying a vintage Chanel quilted bag! Strongly opposing the notion of being labelled a 'charity shop', I suppose you could call it a sort of guilt free luxury store. It is definitely the first store of this kind I have ever heard of but despite only having opened in March I believe it is sure to be a success and inspire other similar projects.
